Overview
The most well-known route to climb Kilimanjaro is the Marangu Route, often known as the “Coca-Cola Route.” Unlike the other routes, which allow you to sleep in tents or mattresses, only the Marangu route allows you to stay in huts all the way to Uhuru Peak. Although there are gentle slopes and a relatively steady route, the route is not simple. Because trackers frequently disregard it because they believe it to be a “Tourists Route,” it has an extremely low success rate.
Although you do not require camping equipment to hike Marangu, you must be physically fit because if you are not, you run the risk of giving up before the summit.
The trek is available in 6 days; however, the shorter plan leaves out the day for acclimatization that is typically required to handle high altitude conditions. At the end of our hiking program the exit is Marangu Gate and drive back to Arusha for overnight.

The segment we are on today is long and hilly. As you cross the “Saddle,” the terrain turns to resemble the moon, which is stony and bleak. The eruption of the volcano created the mountainous section. Summit Kibo and Mawenzi on Kilimanjaro are now connected by the resulting lava flow. The symptoms of altitude sickness include headaches and nausea. By consuming water and moving gently, you can help your body cope. Within 5 to 6 hours, you need to arrive to Kibo Hut. We’ll serve dinner early so you can go to bed. Try to get some rest because you must be up and moving by midnight.
Meal Plan: Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Summit day is today. Starting out at night is simpler because the volcanic ash is still frozen. You will be awakened by the mountain guide, and then you will start the leisurely hike to the summit after some tea and nibbles. At Hans Meyer Cave, 5220 meters above, you will briefly pause. By rising at dawn, you should have traveled “pole pole” to the crater rim’s Gillman’s Point (5681m). You will hike up to the summit for at least an hour while you feel the sun’s warm beams on your skin. At 5895 meters, Uhuru Peak, where you are standing, is Africa’s highest peak, or the “Roof of Africa.” You will turn around after a few pictures and hugs.
You’ll stop at Kibo Hut after a while for a bite and a break. You will descend further from there and eventually arrive in the afternoon to Horombo Hut (3700m). Eat healthily to replenish energy loss, and get plenty of sleep.
Meal Plan: Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.
Overnight stay: Horombo Hut
The very last stage of your climb up Kilimanjaro follows the same route you used to climb, passing through the heather, fiery pokers, and bushes of the moorland vegetation zone. At Mandara Hut, you’ll make a pit stop for a prepared meal (2700m). You will soon descend into the lush, humid jungle, where you might see the colobus monkeys’ magnificent tails. You should reach the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate after spending a total of 6 hours climbing. Return to Arusha in your accommodation, where there will be cold beers, a nice shower, and fresh clothing waiting for overnight.
